Everywhere we look, we see computers performing all types of task. Some computers are unbelievable complex. Some are embedded in objects such as phones and in appliances such as microwaves and washing machines. A computer does three basic jobs:

• It receives data to be processed.
• It processes the data in some way.
• It outputs the results of the processing
